Philosophy

Data Is Good:
In many of our favorite buildings function follows form (Not the other way around) But we carefully sift program data with clients for clues as to the society of a place and the best ways to represent it.

Allowing:
Program changes, organizational politics, value engineering, code compliance, and construction problems are valid design modifiers that inform built results. Design can take advantage of controversy.

Etiology:
Concept development requires understanding and explaining sources to others. We work from observed conditions looking for applicable ideas in recognizable, often vernacular, models.

Practice:
We have many repeat clients but we are not specialists. Unbiased inquiry into sites, programs, sustainability, and construction is the heart of the design process. It often results in successful solutions that neither the Architects nor our clients expect.
